The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Neuenheim FC's zone, Klemens Paula stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rainer Bellmann came out of the goal and Klemens Paula tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 5th minute, Eskil Herter ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rainer Bellmann was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 8 minutes into the match, Klemens Paula had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rainer Bellmann. Neuenheim FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Klemens Paula was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. When VfB Deizisau's Klemens Paula in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After having played for 34 minutes, Eskil Herter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. VfB Deizisau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eskil Herter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee felt a red card was in order, 36 minutes into the game, when Leon Just put in a rough tackle. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 35th minute of the game. One of Neuenheim FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of VfB Deizisau:s goal. Klemens Paula placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! When the match clock showed 38 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Klemens Paula sped through Neuenheim FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rainer Bellmann. 44 minutes into the match, VfB Deizisau's goalkeeper Jens Achenbach had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lajos Brütt. After the first half VfB Deizisau were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Klemens Paula to make the kick off. Rainer Bellmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raphael Wegener in the 51st minute of the match. When the match clock showed 54 minutes, the score became 1-4 when Klemens Paula sped through Neuenheim FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rainer Bellmann. Klemens Paula struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Rainer Bellmann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VfB Deizisau. The audience was convinced that Klemens Paula's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rainer Bellmann was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. Jens Achenbach showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Knud Kloppenburg in the 60th minute of the match. Lajos Brütt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Jens Achenbach tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rainer Bellmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Caldas in the 65th minute of the match. Eduard Siekemeier got a throw-in 69 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Knud Kloppenburg. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lajos Brütt in the 70th minute of play forced VfB Deizisau's goalkeeper Jens Achenbach to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rainer Bellmann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eskil Herter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Klemens Paula received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Rainer Bellmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ditmar Gowinkowsky recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Klemens Paula's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 84thth minute, Rainer Bellmann skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 86 minutes into the match, VfB Deizisau's Raphael Wegener sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rainer Bellmann narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jens Achenbach made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Knud Kloppenburg in the 87th minute of play. In the 89thth minute of the game Lajos Brütt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VfB Deizisau's Jens Achenbach was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ditmar Gowinkowsky sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 95 minutes into the match, Neuenheim FC's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Caldas came free, but Rainer Bellmann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match was over VfB Deizisau could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Neuenheim FC throughout the match.
