Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Neubrandenburg's Fritz Rudolf Bankett started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd match minute, Puch was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilfried Lohmüller to maneuver through the defense. In the 5th minute, Fritz Rudolf Bankett got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Neubrandenburg's Bernd Kahlert slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joachim Frese. That made the score 1-0 after 7 minutes of play. In the 14th minute of the match Bernhard Dehnenkamp sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arko Lau skillfully saved the ball. In the 16th minute, Bernd Kahlert reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Joachim Frese. The goal made the score 2-0. 20 minutes into the match, Neubrandenburg's Fritz Rudolf Bankett sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joachim Frese narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Bernd Kahlert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joachim Frese took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fritz Rudolf Bankett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Flo Bontz hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Neubrandenburg's Bernd Kahlert got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joachim Frese made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Bernd Kahlert sent off a good shot on target. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wilfried Lohmüller stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Puch's Wilfried Lohmüller in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A collision led to Puch getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Gustav Grauslich hit a great ball. When Bernd Kahlert came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Neubrandenburg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernd Kahlert couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wilfried Lohmüller in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arko Lau saved Neubrandenburg from getting behind. Arko Lau made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilfried Lohmüller in the 86th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Puch's Bernhard Dehnenkamp got a free kick in the 89th minute. Joachim Frese showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fritz Rudolf Bankett, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Neubrandenburg's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
