Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dietrich Klein hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Fortuna D FC's Eckart Rattinger got a free kick in the 15th minute. Rainer Gottschling could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Marcel Forberger made a huge save. In the 20th minute Batho Schebesta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lorenz Faber saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of CA Boca Juniors booed when Fortuna D FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dietrich Klein didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 21 played minutes, CA Boca Juniors's Leo Kafka shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Lorenz Faber came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in CA Boca Juniors reached it. The supporters of CA Boca Juniors booed when Fortuna D FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Leibel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fortuna D FC's Lorenz Faber played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christoph Hensel in the 31st minute of play. Fortuna D FC's Rainer Gottschling got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Louis Rittel in the 35th minute of play forced Fortuna D FC's goalkeeper Lorenz Faber to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 42 minutes, Louis Rittel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CA Boca Juniors's supporters crossed their fingers, but Louis Rittel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ergün Molau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

CA Boca Juniors's Ergün Molau got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lorenz Faber made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Bernd Bartsch sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Fortuna D FC defense, Ergün Molau kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lorenz Faber. The Fortuna D FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lorenz Faber should have stopped the shot. CA Boca Juniors's Uwe Hinsken was substituted for Ergün Molau. If Uwe Hinsken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. CA Boca Juniors's Christoph Hensel got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tobias Schmitt-Illert received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Lorenz Faber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rainer Gottschling kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. Lorenz Faber was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Leo Kafka. Marcel Forberger didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dietrich Klein went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. In the 80th match minute, Fortuna D FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rainer Gottschling to maneuver through the defense. If Uwe Hinsken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcel Forberger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eckart Rattinger in the 83rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Uwe Hinsken in the 84th minute of play forced Fortuna D FC's goalkeeper Lorenz Faber to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fortuna D FC's Lorenz Faber proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Fortuna D FC from getting a goal against them. Tobias Schmitt-Illert could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Lorenz Faber made a huge save. Marcel Forberger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eckart Rattinger in the 96th minute of the match.
