David Dreher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beat Holtmann having to interfere. Bülent Ehrmann in the 16thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Hans Noebels, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If David Dreher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute, Jan Gerwen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, David Dreher managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sonnenham FSV's supporters rose to their feet, but David Dreher was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Beat Holtmann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kurt Laabs hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. If Jürgen Theinert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37th minute, Baptist Berlingen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 39th match minute, Rübeer was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bülent Ehrmann to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th minute of the match Philipp Vortkamp shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Beat Holtmann showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jürgen Theinert received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Beat Holtmann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Rübeer's Roland Quabeck got a free kick in the 44th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Beat Holtmann was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jan Gerwen showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-1 in the 65 minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Sonnenham FSV's goal looked a bit too open when Valérien Jahnke came free, but Hans Noebels reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valérien Jahnke in the 70th minute of play forced Sonnenham FSV's goalkeeper Hans Noebels to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 72 minutes of play, Rübeer's Valérien Jahnke made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hans Noebels was left in no man's land by his defense there! Roland Quabeck hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. When Jürgen Theinert came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Sonnenham FSV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jürgen Theinert couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valérien Jahnke in the 80th minute of play forced Sonnenham FSV's goalkeeper Hans Noebels to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. During the 83rd minute of the match Jan Gerwen completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Jan Gerwen a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 83rd match minute, Sonnenham FSV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jan Gerwen to maneuver through the defense. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
