The supporters of CSKA Sofia booed when Sonnenham FSV was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Spickenreither didn't get a good kick on the ball. CSKA Sofia's Hüseyin-Kenan Stockhaus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan Gerwen in the 19th minute of play. Hans Noebels stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cemal Yatman's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. After 29 played minutes Sonnenham FSV got a freekick which was hit by Per Müller. Cemal Yatman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Hans Noebels tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 35 minutes, Cemal Yatman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CSKA Sofia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cemal Yatman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hüseyin-Kenan Stockhaus didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from David Dreher went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. CSKA Sofia's Hüseyin-Kenan Stockhaus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jürgen Theinert in the 44th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cemal Yatman was the one to do the kick off. Hans Noebels showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgard Tono in the 54th minute of the match. 2-1 became the score in the 55th minute when Cemal Yatman elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. CSKA Sofia's Hüseyin-Kenan Stockhaus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Dreher in the 64th minute of play. Jan Gerwen charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jan Gerwen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 70 played minutes Sonnenham FSV got a freekick which was hit by Jan Gerwen. If Delyan Buchukov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Benjamin Spickenreither fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sonnenham FSV's protests and gave Benjamin Spickenreither a yellow card for diving instead. Benjamin Spickenreither hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. If Delyan Buchukov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
