Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Claudius van Essen got the match started through his kick off. Jakob Berrang made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Josef Trachsel in the 4th minute of play. Keith Klanthe kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. In the 8th minute of the match, Conni Tetzner tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jakob Berrang saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Claudius van Essen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Eugen Gelb tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 19thth minute of the game Conni Tetzner who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SpVgg Mittelfranken 73's Jakob Berrang was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 20 played minutes Karlsruher SC got a freekick which was hit by Holger Wohlert. In the 21st minute, Niko Saager got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Spike Häberle hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. After having played for 24 minutes, Niko Saager managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SpVgg Mittelfranken 73's supporters crossed their fingers, but Niko Saager was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 25th match minute, Karlsruher SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Kant to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Claudius van Essen managed to get in a good position for a shot. SpVgg Mittelfranken 73's supporters rose to their feet, but Claudius van Essen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eugen Gelb breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Conni Tetzner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jakob Berrang having to interfere. Claudius van Essen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Eugen Gelb tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Conni Tetzner to make the kick off. When Holger Wohlert was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 50 minutes had been played. Holger Wohlert hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. In the 62nd minute, Keith Klanthe fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Eugen Gelb, passed just outside the right post. Claudius van Essen struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Eugen Gelb didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SpVgg Mittelfranken 73. When Claudius van Essen came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the SpVgg Mittelfranken 73 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claudius van Essen couldn't finish the play. Niko Saager charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Niko Saager the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 73rd match minute, SpVgg Mittelfranken 73 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Niko Saager to maneuver through the defense. When Emil Schöpf fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Karlsruher SC's protests and gave Emil Schöpf a yellow card for diving instead. After 75 played minutes Karlsruher SC got a freekick which was hit by Emil Schöpf. After a defensive mix-up in SpVgg Mittelfranken 73's zone, Conni Tetzner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jakob Berrang came out of the goal and Conni Tetzner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. SpVgg Mittelfranken 73's Claudius van Essen got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Many of SpVgg Mittelfranken 73's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. SpVgg Mittelfranken 73 may have spent more time on the ball, but Karlsruher SC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
