Sommersell's Herbert Breukelmann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Sommersell from getting a goal against them. Herbert Breukelmann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Loris Bornemann in the 12th minute of the match. After 14 minutes, Matthias Hastenteufel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sommersell and the 1. FC Hüls players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Holger Lade managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sommersell's supporters rose to their feet, but Holger Lade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ekkehard Paroth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vicco Rinnerer got free with Herbert Breukelmann in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Herbert Breukelmann was a little too slow when Loris Bornemann got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 23rd minute. The score was now 1-0. Herbert Breukelmann made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Vicco Rinnerer sent off a good shot on target. Herbert Breukelmann came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by 1. FC Hüls's Loris Bornemann. But to his dismay, Loris Bornemann quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Holger Lade sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to 1. FC Hüls getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Vicco Rinnerer hit a great ball. The supporters of Sommersell booed when 1. FC Hüls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hauke Engbertz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Herbert Breukelmann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vicco Rinnerer in the 39th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Radim Reckle in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Herbert Breukelmann saved Sommersell from getting behind. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Holger Lade stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Sommersell's goal looked a bit too open when Loris Bornemann came free, but Herbert Breukelmann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 53 minutes into the game, Stephan Kracht was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sommersell's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave 1. FC Hüls the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Loris Bornemann in the 56th minute of play forced Sommersell's goalkeeper Herbert Breukelmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 56 minutes, Andre Räder mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 1. FC Hüls and the Sommersell players grew even worse after the yellow card. Holger Lade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ekkehard Paroth having to interfere. 70 minutes into the match, 1. FC Hüls's goal looked a bit too open when Holger Lade came free, but Ekkehard Paroth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 75 minutes of play, 1. FC Hüls's Loris Bornemann made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. FC Hüls's supporters crossed their fingers, but Loris Bornemann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 83rd minute Loris Bornemann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Herbert Breukelmann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sommersell's Stephan Kracht got a free kick in the 86th minute. In the 89th minute, Vicco Rinnerer ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Herbert Breukelmann was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. The audience was convinced that Toralf Eichler's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herbert Breukelmann was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. Andre Räder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Herbert Breukelmann having to interfere. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. 1. FC Hüls had played much better football throughout.
