The audience thought a goal was coming when Johannes Popp got free with Henrike Schwarz in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Carl Zeiss Jena 1903's Peer Eggers got a free kick in the 21st minute. Henrike Schwarz was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Stellan Sundling. In the 22nd minute, Peer Eggers hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Johannes Popp got free with Henrike Schwarz in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When Ashley Stahlschmidt fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carl Zeiss Jena 1903's protests and gave Ashley Stahlschmidt a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Kesten booed when Carl Zeiss Jena 1903 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ashley Stahlschmidt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vince Van Halssbeeck showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sami Harms in the 78th minute of the match. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Vince Van Halssbeeck. Carl Zeiss Jena 1903's Sami Harms suffered a fractured collar bone after 84 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Johannes Popp kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match.
