Leif-Eric Dapp might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Henrike Schwarz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Leif-Eric Dapp ran back to his position shaking his head. 30 minutes into the match, Carl Zeiss Jena 1903's goal looked a bit too open when Max Rühle came free, but Henrike Schwarz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 32 minutes, Sami Harms managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carl Zeiss Jena 1903's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sami Harms was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Carl Zeiss Jena 1903's goalkeeper Henrike Schwarz, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 76 minutes into the game, Carl Zeiss Jena 1903's Wilhelm Gatzke nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Egil Zillen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Sami Harms sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 85 minutes into the match, Sami Harms had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Egil Zillen. Dötlingen FSV's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sami Harms was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. The Carl Zeiss Jena 1903 fans cheered their team off the field, for while Dötlingen FSV had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
