Bertram Verlinden showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Slavoj Ukrainets in the 37th minute of the match. Slavoj Ukrainets scored 1-4 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bertram Verlinden, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Baptist Rammbock struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Hubert Päßler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zwickling.

In the 89th minute, Borussia Dortmund's Pío Daneri dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-7. Zwickling's Bertram Verlinden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Slavoj Ukrainets in the 94th minute of play. Borussia Dortmund's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
