The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hendrik Jung during the 2nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hendrik Jung hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Andreas Bar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horst Birnstiel having to interfere. 10 minutes into the game, Todor Vaskov was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Midgard's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Borussia Dortmund the free kick. The supporters of Borussia Dortmund booed when FC Midgard was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Todor Vaskov didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 13 minutes, Clint Gläser mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Borussia Dortmund and the FC Midgard players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 13th minute, Clint Gläser hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Horst Birnstiel was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but 曲风平 showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 18 minute of play. Todor Vaskov blasted a shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hubert Päßler having to make a save. FC Midgard's Horst Birnstiel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Slavoj Ukrainets in the 23rd minute of play. In the 25th minute, Slavoj Ukrainets ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Horst Birnstiel was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. FC Midgard's Horst Birnstiel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Slavoj Ukrainets in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugen Schwarze in the 31st minute of play forced Borussia Dortmund's goalkeeper Hubert Päßler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Midgard's Horst Birnstiel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save FC Midgard from getting a goal against them. When Slavoj Ukrainets fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Borussia Dortmund's protests and gave Slavoj Ukrainets a yellow card for diving instead. Hubert Päßler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Todor Vaskov, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Hubert Päßler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugen Schwarze in the 44th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Slavoj Ukrainets was the one to do the kick off. Hubert Päßler made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alvise Castellani in the 55th minute of play. In the 57th minute Claus Holsing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hubert Päßler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alvise Castellani recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 65 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund's goal looked a bit too open when Alvise Castellani came free, but Hubert Päßler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Slavoj Ukrainets managed to get in a good position for a shot. Borussia Dortmund's supporters rose to their feet, but Slavoj Ukrainets was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Horst Birnstiel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. FC Midgard made a substitution. Harald Potulski replaced Alvise Castellani. Eugen Schwarze struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Hubert Päßler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Midgard. When Eugen Schwarze came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the FC Midgard fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eugen Schwarze couldn't finish the play. In the 79th minute, Eike Kottsieper hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Claus Holsing kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Borussia Dortmund's Hubert Päßler proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save Borussia Dortmund from getting a goal against them. In the 89th match minute, Borussia Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by 曲风平 to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Harald Potulski kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Hubert Päßler. That made the score 2-1 in the 92 minute of play. Hubert Päßler was a little too slow when Todor Vaskov got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 2-2. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the FC Midgard players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
