After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Knut Henke was the one to do the kick off. When the match clock showed 90 minutes, the score became 4-1 when Hellmut Karrenbauer sped through Tunzenhausen's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ansgar Sell. Ansgar Sell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hellmut Karrenbauer's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. Tunzenhausen's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because VFB Stuttgart had won, even though Tunzenhausen had held more of the ball.
