Spectators: 7500 (Terracing: 5625, Seating: 1725, VIP seats: 150) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Christoph Kaufhold kicked off to start the match. Christoph Kaufhold in the 3rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tobias Guenther, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a defensive mix-up in WATTENSCHEID's zone, Hellmut Karrenbauer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Richard Thieltges came out of the goal and Hellmut Karrenbauer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hellmut Karrenbauer in the 5th minute of play forced WATTENSCHEID's goalkeeper Richard Thieltges to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hellmut Karrenbauer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Richard Thieltges tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Robert Pleve fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored WATTENSCHEID's protests and gave Robert Pleve a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd match minute, WATTENSCHEID was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Robert Pleve to maneuver through the defense. When Hellmut Karrenbauer came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the VFB Stuttgart fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hellmut Karrenbauer couldn't finish the play. Tobias Guenther was a little too slow when Christoph Kaufhold got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 27th minute. The score was now 1-0. Tobias Guenther was out of position in the 33 minute of play, and Niels Tempel capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Niels Tempel really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. WATTENSCHEID's Richard Thieltges played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herrmann Rocker in the 39th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Hugo Bothe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Richard Thieltges took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hellmut Karrenbauer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 45 minutes into the game, VFB Stuttgart's Hellmut Karrenbauer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Richard Thieltges made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

After 56 played minutes VFB Stuttgart got a freekick which was hit by Reto Moratschke. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reto Moratschke in the 61st minute of play forced WATTENSCHEID's goalkeeper Richard Thieltges to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd match minute, WATTENSCHEID was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jan Birmes to maneuver through the defense. Hellmut Karrenbauer's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 67thth minute, Richard Thieltges skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Niels Tempel scored 3-1 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tobias Guenther, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tobias Guenther showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christoph Kaufhold, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 76th minute Hugo Bothe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richard Thieltges saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to VFB Stuttgart getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Michael Paulssen hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, VFB Stuttgart's Hugo Bothe got a free kick in the 80th minute. Niels Tempel took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 81st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Tobias Guenther. VFB Stuttgart's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The audience was convinced that Hellmut Karrenbauer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Richard Thieltges was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. In the 85th minute Jan Birmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tobias Guenther saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Richard Thieltges made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Hellmut Karrenbauer sent off a good shot on target. In the 93rd minute, Niels Tempel ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tobias Guenther was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. WATTENSCHEID's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
