Altonaer Löwen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Viersen FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Altonaer Löwen's Karl Stieglitz got a free kick in the 12th minute. Sandor Schöpper made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Heidrich Molling in the 12th minute of play. When Viersen FC's Heidrich Molling in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 18thth minute of the game Matthias Dunz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Altonaer Löwen's Sandor Schöpper was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ronald Stammler kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, Viersen FC's goalkeeper Anton Willig had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kai Venekamp. 23 minutes into the match, Matthias Dunz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sandor Schöpper. Altonaer Löwen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Matthias Dunz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Sandor Schöpper showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafael Rump in the 26th minute of the match. In the 27th match minute, Altonaer Löwen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerrit Ahlers to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Viersen FC's Heidrich Molling got a free kick in the 32nd minute. The audience was convinced that Rafael Rump's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sandor Schöpper was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. Matthias Dunz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44th minute, Altonaer Löwen's Gerd-Peter Barges dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After 51 played minutes Altonaer Löwen got a freekick which was hit by Ronald Stammler. If Rafael Rump had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rafael Rump received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Sandor Schöpper tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rafael Rump fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandor Schöpper having to interfere. In the 58th minute, Johannes Bachmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 61st minute, Rafael Rump fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Sandor Schöpper, passed just outside the right post. Renato Jourdan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandor Schöpper having to interfere. A collision led to Viersen FC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Matthias Dunz hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Rafael Rump's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sandor Schöpper was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. In the 74th minute of the match, Matthias Dunz got a very nice opportunity to score, but Sandor Schöpper was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rafael Rump in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sandor Schöpper saved Altonaer Löwen from getting behind. Anton Willig took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerd-Peter Barges, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gerrit Ahlers hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match.
