FC Wesseling:s Afonso Santarém showed great skill when he stopped Winfried Kitzberger:s penalty. After 24 minutes FC Wesseling's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Winfried Kitzberger who took care of the corner kick. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Hans Müntefering blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wenzel Lukner having to make a save. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

A collision led to Rehfelde FSV getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Herbert Kraatz hit a great ball. The Rehfelde FSV players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
