The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Bastian Biehl who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 5thth minute tested the skills of Eduard Hebel when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Eddi Apfel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 17th minute, Bastian Biehl got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Erno Günes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rainer Kugler in the 19th minute of the match. The supporters of Crotta booed when Flensburger FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frithjof Stockhausen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donald Ripp could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Eduard Hebel made a huge save. Kai Marx struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Eduard Hebel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Crotta. In the 32nd match minute, Flensburger FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Torben Petri to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Flensburger FC's zone, Kai Marx stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eduard Hebel came out of the goal and Kai Marx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Erno Günes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rainer Kugler, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bastian Biehl to strike the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Flensburger FC got a freekick which was hit by Rainer Kugler. Erno Günes made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Rainer Kugler sent off a good shot on target. 63 minutes into the game, Eddi Apfel cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Eduard Hebel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rainer Kugler in the 66th minute of play forced Crotta's goalkeeper Erno Günes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erno Günes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dittmar Lehmann in the 68th minute of play. In the 69th minute, Kees Weber hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erno Günes was a little too slow when Frithjof Stockhausen got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 80th minute. The score was now 1-1. Timo Sebastian recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Crotta booed when Flensburger FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ralf Waldschmidt didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 94 minutes, Eddi Apfel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Crotta and the Flensburger FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
