Germania Haithabu's Siegmund Buhrmann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Germania Haithabu from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Germania Haithabu booed when Elisenhof was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marko Frentzen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the match, Norbert Joeris dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Siegmund Buhrmann, 3-0. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Elisenhof's goalkeeper Marco Reiner, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Norbert Joeris in the 35th minute of play forced Germania Haithabu's goalkeeper Siegmund Buhrmann to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 37 played minutes Elisenhof got a freekick which was hit by Marko Frentzen. A collision led to Elisenhof getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Norbert Joeris hit a great ball. Ubbo Marschner struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Marco Reiner didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Germania Haithabu. In the 42nd minute, Erwin Ruck hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bernd Holz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ubbo Marschner's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marco Reiner read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The Germania Haithabu fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Germania Haithabu's Ubbo Marschner looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Erk Grimm hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Dejan Denz charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dejan Denz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 57 played minutes Elisenhof got a freekick which was hit by Dejan Denz. After a defensive mix-up in Elisenhof's zone, Ubbo Marschner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marco Reiner came out of the goal and Ubbo Marschner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Elisenhof getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Dejan Denz hit a great ball. 71 minutes into the match, Ubbo Marschner dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Marco Reiner, 3-4. Siegmund Buhrmann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dejan Denz in the 80th minute of play. After 80 minutes, Kornel Kroth mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Elisenhof and the Germania Haithabu players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 81st match minute, Elisenhof was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kornel Kroth to maneuver through the defense. 83 minutes into the match, Dejan Denz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Siegmund Buhrmann. Germania Haithabu's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dejan Denz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-4.
