The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Chelsea's Arp Nonnenmacher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wolf-Dieter Pick in the 6th minute of play. Arp Nonnenmacher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wolf-Dieter Pick in the 8th minute of play. Franz-Peter Trachsel made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Alexander Baur sent off a good shot on target. Georg Richstein was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 18 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Chelsea's Georg Richstein got a free kick in the 19th minute. Florian Düren took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 20th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Arp Nonnenmacher. Chelsea's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lutz Junginger in the 22nd minute of play forced Chelsea's goalkeeper Arp Nonnenmacher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arp Nonnenmacher showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wolf-Dieter Pick in the 23rd minute of the match. 27 minutes into the game, Neue Düne FC's Miroslav Angerer nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arp Nonnenmacher made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 31 minutes into the match, Frank Knapp notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Chelsea's Arp Nonnenmacher. Arp Nonnenmacher was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Wolf-Dieter Pick took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Arp Nonnenmacher. Arp Nonnenmacher dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. After 41 minutes of play, Neue Düne FC's Lutz Junginger made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arp Nonnenmacher was left in no man's land by his defense there! 45 minutes into the match, Chelsea's goal looked a bit too open when Paul Sausmikat came free, but Arp Nonnenmacher reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wolf-Dieter Pick in the 46th minute of play forced Chelsea's goalkeeper Arp Nonnenmacher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 48 minutes into the game, Neue Düne FC's Felix Stalleicher nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arp Nonnenmacher made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Felix Stalleicher stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Felix Stalleicher fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 55th match minute, Chelsea was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvio Gorgs to maneuver through the defense. Arp Nonnenmacher made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Stalleicher in the 57th minute of play. Arp Nonnenmacher made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lutz Junginger in the 59th minute. 61 minutes into the game, Paul Sausmikat recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Arp Nonnenmacher. Paul Sausmikat showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-6. Arp Nonnenmacher made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Wolf-Dieter Pick sent off a good shot on target. Arp Nonnenmacher showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Stalleicher in the 72nd minute of the match. In the 74th minute Frank Knapp shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arp Nonnenmacher saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Chelsea's Alexander Baur got a free kick in the 81st minute. 83 minutes into the game, Alexander Baur cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. Franz-Peter Trachsel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Neue Düne FC's Paul Sausmikat got a free kick in the 87th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Wolf-Dieter Pick could shoot a difficult shot in the 90th minute, which Arp Nonnenmacher however easily saved by the left post. Chelsea's Arp Nonnenmacher played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paul Sausmikat in the 92nd minute of play. Arp Nonnenmacher was out of position in the 93 minute of play, and Paul Sausmikat capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Paul Sausmikat really showed his touch with that goal: 1-7. Alexander Baur received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Franz-Peter Trachsel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Neue Düne FC played a much better game than Chelsea and deserved their victory. The Chelsea players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
