After a rather tough play, Leidenschaft's Hannes Rehbach got a free kick in the 4th minute. Yonko Stoichkov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anestis Kotsopoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yonko Stoichkov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anestis Kotsopoulos in the 7th minute of play. 14 minutes into the match, Leidenschaft's goal looked a bit too open when Anestis Kotsopoulos came free, but Yonko Stoichkov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Emilio Gualtieri hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. George Suminskis took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised August Hoffmanns. August Hoffmanns dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anestis Kotsopoulos in the 24th minute of play forced Leidenschaft's goalkeeper Yonko Stoichkov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Hugo Haupt fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rot-Weiss-Essen's protests and gave Hugo Haupt a yellow card for diving instead. Hugo Haupt kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hannes Rehbach in the 29th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck August Hoffmanns prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Udo Käppeler fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rot-Weiss-Essen's protests and gave Udo Käppeler a yellow card for diving instead. August Hoffmanns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hannes Rehbach, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After a rather tough play, Leidenschaft's Vélaugur Óskarsson got a free kick in the 39th minute. Leidenschaft's George Suminskis got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If George Suminskis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Rot-Weiss-Essen from getting a goal against them. Yonko Stoichkov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anestis Kotsopoulos in the 55th minute of play. In the 59th minute, George Suminskis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by George Suminskis in the 61st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Leidenschaft's Hannes Rehbach got a free kick in the 66th minute. August Hoffmanns took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Suminskis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yonko Stoichkov made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximilian Henning in the 77th minute of play. George Suminskis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without August Hoffmanns having to make a save. Yonko Stoichkov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anestis Kotsopoulos, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. George Suminskis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Maximilian Henning kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers George Suminskis in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg August Hoffmanns saved Rot-Weiss-Essen from getting behind. George Suminskis struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. August Hoffmanns didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leidenschaft. Vélaugur Óskarsson hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. In the 96th match minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maximilian Henning to maneuver through the defense. After 98 played minutes Leidenschaft got a freekick which was hit by Per-Olof Åberg. The Rot-Weiss-Essen supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Leidenschaft's performance. The match ended with a win for Leidenschaft.
