The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Reipertshofen FC booed when SV PM Cottbus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Günter Krüger didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Gencalp Kani managed to get in a good position for a shot. SV PM Cottbus's supporters rose to their feet, but Gencalp Kani was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fred Teupel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, SV PM Cottbus's Florian Häfner got a free kick in the 15th minute. Reik Scholze fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julius Tenbruck having to interfere. 19 minutes into the game, Udo Renger cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Fred Teupel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Carl Tempel struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Fred Teupel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SV PM Cottbus. Fred Teupel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carl Tempel went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. 47 minutes into the match, Reipertshofen FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gencalp Kani came free, but Fred Teupel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Siegfried Rehmer stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
