Bruno Untermann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex Mansilha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bruno Untermann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Mansilha in the 17th minute of play. Alex Mansilha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 20 minutes into the match, Academica Pulheim's Alex Mansilha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bruno Untermann narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lutz Golke who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 27thth minute tested the skills of Bruno Untermann when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Despite this Bruno Untermann quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 47th minute, Juliane Resenberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Academica Pulheim's Paul Heyckendorf proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Academica Pulheim from getting a goal against them. Academica Pulheim's Hugó Bøss was substituted for Joachim Kretschmer. In the 72nd minute of the match Academica Pulheim got a corner. SV Berkenbrück's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Alex Mansilha ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Academica Pulheim's corner Alex Mansilha fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Bruno Untermann quite easily take care of the ball. Maxime Vrints blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Bruno Untermann having to make a save. After 83 minutes of play, Academica Pulheim's Gary Lineker made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bruno Untermann was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Alex Mansilha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Academica Pulheim's supporters rose to their feet, but Alex Mansilha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bruno Untermann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Zbigniew Setara might have been able to make a better finish in the 90th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bruno Untermann. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zbigniew Setara ran back to his position shaking his head. Alex Mansilha struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Bruno Untermann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Academica Pulheim. In the 93rd match minute, Academica Pulheim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ilie Zâncă to maneuver through the defense. When Tino Olck came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the SV Berkenbrück fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tino Olck couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Academica Pulheim had won after a very even match.
