Rio Ave CF's defense didn't have a chance, in the 13th minute, when Christian Galuška scored to the left of an out of position Josef Sixta, making the score, 1-0. Kasava's Matyáš Žížala played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrik Lindovský in the 17th minute of play. 18 minutes into the game, Henning Björk cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Matyáš Žížala was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 21st minute Patrik Lindovský shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matyáš Žížala saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patrik Lindovský took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Matyáš Žížala. Matyáš Žížala dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Vilém Lorenz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rio Ave CF's supporters rose to their feet, but Vilém Lorenz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matyáš Žížala stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Vilém Lorenz's shot from short distance in the 35th minute. When Patrik Lindovský came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Rio Ave CF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Patrik Lindovský couldn't finish the play.
