With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vladimír Chadim in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Michal Chromek saved Arsenal FC from getting behind. Mikuláš Havlík fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michal Chromek having to interfere. 18 minutes into the match, FC Vicktoria's goalkeeper Roman Pytlík had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pravoslav Barnet. In the 18th match minute, FC Vicktoria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jiří Rybka to maneuver through the defense. Arsenal FC's Michal Chromek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Norbert Hnilička in the 24th minute of play. Norbert Hnilička's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Michal Chromek read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. Arsenal FC's Petr Popp couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 30th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for FC Vicktoria. Vladimír Chadim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Vladimír Chadim came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the FC Vicktoria fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vladimír Chadim couldn't finish the play. Michal Chromek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimír Chadim, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 41st minute of the match Petr Hluchý sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Michal Chromek skillfully saved the ball. If Norbert Hnilička had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Vladimír Chadim made the kick off in the second half. Vladimír Chadim was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 54th minute. FC Vicktoria's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Jiří Rybka came free with the goalkeeper in the 78th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Michal Chromek could save by the left post. In the 79th minute, Luděk Bosák hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Norbert Hnilička fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Michal Chromek having to interfere. FC Vicktoria's Vladimír Chadim got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Miroslav Tumpach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
