Real Madrid CF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Daniele Gottschalk blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Hercules Oester having to make a save. With a little luck, Savognin's Hercules Oester got control of the ball when Daniele Gottschalk tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Savognin's zone, Daniele Gottschalk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hercules Oester came out of the goal and Daniele Gottschalk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hubert Gilardi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the referee ended the match the Real Madrid CF players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
