The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Wangen booed when Illgau HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gino Aregger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Illgau HC's Istvan Urfer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brian Schaerer in the 17th minute of play. Manolo Krause received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Istvan Urfer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute, Claude Gladu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Istvan Urfer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manolo Krause in the 29th minute of the match. Manolo Krause received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Istvan Urfer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Illgau HC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Gino Aregger hit a great ball. Manolo Krause sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brian Schaerer in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Istvan Urfer saved Illgau HC from getting behind. 44 minutes into the match, Illgau HC's goal looked a bit too open when Manolo Krause came free, but Istvan Urfer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brian Schaerer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Istvan Urfer having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tran Wider to make the kick off. Brian Schaerer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Wangen 's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Illgau HC the free kick. In the 67th minute of the match, Brian Schaerer got a very nice opportunity to score, but Istvan Urfer was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 76thth minute of the game Filippo Locher who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Illgau HC's Istvan Urfer was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Istvan Urfer made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Brian Schaerer sent off a good shot on target. In the 82nd match minute, Illgau HC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dan Balmer to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Illgau HC's zone, Brian Schaerer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Istvan Urfer came out of the goal and Brian Schaerer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brian Schaerer came free with the goalkeeper in the 89th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Istvan Urfer could save by the left post. 90 minutes into the match, Brian Schaerer had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Istvan Urfer. Illgau HC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brian Schaerer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Wangen eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
