But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florin Răducioiu couldn't finish the play. Olof Greub came out of the goal and Remus Cotuțiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 40th minute, Charly Pomi fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Rupert Junker, passed just outside the right post. 47 minutes into the match, Leonardo Lepre dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Rupert Junker, 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leonardo Lepre was the one to do the kick off.
