Spectators: 6752 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1752, VIP seats: 0) Vernec AC's Vilgot Mickelsson started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind Steinhaus's goalkeeper Grover Fankhauser, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Vernec AC booed when Steinhaus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marc Migneault didn't get a good kick on the ball. Grover Fankhauser took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bastien Cathomas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 12th minute, Vilgot Mickelsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 15 minutes into the match, Vilgot Mickelsson notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Steinhaus's Grover Fankhauser. Grover Fankhauser was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Bastien Cathomas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Forster Heuberger's late challenge caught a Vernec AC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Forster Heuberger helped the player get up and apologised. In the 22nd minute, one of Steinhaus:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Steinhaus. Vilgot Mickelsson shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Bastien Cathomas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Grover Fankhauser read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. After 28 played minutes Steinhaus got a freekick which was hit by Paul Fabich. After a rather tough play, Steinhaus's Paul Fabich got a free kick in the 30th minute. Steinhaus's Grover Fankhauser played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vilgot Mickelsson in the 35th minute of play. After 37 minutes, Lutz Schläfli mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vernec AC and the Steinhaus players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cosmin Codrea was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jacquin Banz. Grover Fankhauser showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vilgot Mickelsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bastien Cathomas in the 46th minute of play forced Steinhaus's goalkeeper Grover Fankhauser to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle sounded Vernec AC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Steinhaus.
