Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Beltrame Odermatt started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in FC Basel 1893's zone, Steffen Cathomas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Franek Gabriel came out of the goal and Steffen Cathomas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 12 played minutes Beltrame Odermatt rounded FC Basel 1893's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giancarlo Bögli in the 15th minute of play forced Villigen's goalkeeper Erwin Gremion to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the game, FC Basel 1893's Rainier Goetschi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Erwin Gremion made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 25th minute, Giancarlo Bögli left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Basel 1893 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Thanks to some nice moves Steffen Cathomas could shoot a difficult shot in the 32nd minute, which Franek Gabriel however easily saved by the left post. Beltrame Odermatt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franek Gabriel having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Beltrame Odermatt kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Franek Gabriel. That made the score 2-2 in the 41 minute of play. In the 47th minute, Villigen's Beltrame Odermatt dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-2. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Franek Gabriel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Steffen Cathomas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Steffen Cathomas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franek Gabriel having to interfere. Beltrame Odermatt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Franek Gabriel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. Beltrame Odermatt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 71 played minutes FC Basel 1893 got a freekick which was hit by Dietrich Freitag. 73 minutes into the match, Villigen's Steffen Cathomas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Franek Gabriel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Giancarlo Bögli managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Basel 1893's supporters rose to their feet, but Giancarlo Bögli was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erwin Gremion breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of FC Basel 1893 booed when Villigen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Garron Schenkel didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Steffen Cathomas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Villigen's supporters rose to their feet, but Steffen Cathomas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Franek Gabriel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Franek Gabriel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Beltrame Odermatt in the 84th minute of the match. Beltrame Odermatt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rainier Goetschi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giancarlo Bögli in the 95th minute of play forced Villigen's goalkeeper Erwin Gremion to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erwin Gremion made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when Rainier Goetschi sent off a good shot on target. Beltrame Odermatt scored 4-3 in the 99th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Franek Gabriel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. There was no doubt that Villigen were the better team. Villigen's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
