Clayton Zarrella's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Art Helfenstein read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, besan's goal looked a bit too open when Emery Palorini came free, but Johnny Mazuret reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Johnny Mazuret made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emery Palorini in the 26th minute of play. Chlötzlibieger's Art Helfenstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Clayton Zarrella in the 28th minute of play. Art Helfenstein made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gregory Waller in the 31st minute. When Rafael Hess fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chlötzlibieger's protests and gave Rafael Hess a yellow card for diving instead. Rafael Hess kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After having played for 47 minutes, Falk Portmann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chlötzlibieger's supporters crossed their fingers, but Falk Portmann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Clayton Zarrella to make the kick off. Gregory Waller received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Art Helfenstein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the besan defense, Falk Portmann kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Johnny Mazuret. The audience thought a goal was coming when Falk Portmann got free with Johnny Mazuret in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
