Spectators: 6780 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1780, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Dominique Hufschmid took the kick off in the first half of the match. After 4 minutes, Gastonne Moos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the VidemonteFC and the FC BASEL players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of FC BASEL booed when VidemonteFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gastonne Moos didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Henning Camenzind from long distance, 6 minutes into the match, got Jiri Ehrenbolger's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. With his leg Jiri Ehrenbolger managed to avoid a goal in the 10thth minute, when FC BASEL's Maxence Faure fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 13 minutes into the match, FC BASEL's Lionel Frey sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jiri Ehrenbolger narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dominique Hufschmid in the 15th minute of play forced FC BASEL's goalkeeper Ronan Kaestner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of VidemonteFC booed when FC BASEL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Baumeister didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Dominique Hufschmid had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC BASEL's Ronan Kaestner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kuno Brunelle in the 35th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Kuno Brunelle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dominique Hufschmid recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 44th minute, Dominique Hufschmid left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The VidemonteFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Kuno Brunelle scored 0-2 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ronan Kaestner, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After the first half VidemonteFC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lionel Frey was the one to do the kick off. Kevin Zettel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 61 played minutes VidemonteFC got a freekick which was hit by Dominique Hufschmid. VidemonteFC's Kuno Brunelle got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jiri Ehrenbolger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lionel Frey in the 78th minute of the match. Kuno Brunelle received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Ronan Kaestner came out and tried to block the shot, but Kuno Brunelle slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 81st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dominique Hufschmid in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ronan Kaestner saved FC BASEL from getting behind. In the 91st minute, Kuno Brunelle ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ronan Kaestner was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Ronan Kaestner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dominique Hufschmid, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute.
