In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind Aveiro united's goalkeeper Sten Cicchetti, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when LLoyd Weingartner got free with Sten Cicchetti in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Michele Zacchia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gianni Theiler's late challenge caught a Union FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gianni Theiler helped the player get up and apologised. Gianni Theiler kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. If Sylvain Breitenstein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Michele Zacchia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aveiro united's Gianni Theiler pulled a muscle in his back after 22 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 22 minutes, Quentin Himmel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Union FC and the Aveiro united players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alberto Koller took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 23rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Favian Duplanty. Union FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Sylvain Breitenstein had several of the Aveiro united's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 30 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Sten Cicchetti as he didn't even see the shot coming. LLoyd Weingartner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Sten Cicchetti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 34 minutes into the game, Nino Brasseur was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Aveiro united's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Union FC the free kick. Nino Brasseur hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. If Sylvain Breitenstein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th minute Michele Zacchia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Favian Duplanty saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. LLoyd Weingartner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sten Cicchetti having to interfere. LLoyd Weingartner was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 42nd minute. Union FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When Benny Henchoz fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aveiro united's protests and gave Benny Henchoz a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Union FC booed when Aveiro united was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benny Henchoz didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Ken Achermann from long distance, 45 minutes into the match, got Sten Cicchetti's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. LLoyd Weingartner might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sten Cicchetti. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. LLoyd Weingartner ran back to his position shaking his head.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Michele Zacchia to make the kick off. Favian Duplanty made an important save on a dangerous shot by Michele Zacchia in the 55th minute. Sylvain Breitenstein's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sten Cicchetti read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Sten Cicchetti stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sylvain Breitenstein's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. 63 minutes into the game, Garry Fah was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Aveiro united's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Union FC the free kick. In the 64th match minute, Aveiro united was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Garry Fah to maneuver through the defense. Sten Cicchetti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from LLoyd Weingartner, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Sten Cicchetti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from LLoyd Weingartner in the 67th minute of the match. In the 69th minute, Benny Henchoz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that LLoyd Weingartner's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sten Cicchetti was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. In the 72nd minute, LLoyd Weingartner ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sten Cicchetti was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. 76 minutes into the match, Aveiro united's goal looked a bit too open when Sylvain Breitenstein came free, but Sten Cicchetti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. LLoyd Weingartner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sten Cicchetti having to interfere. Sten Cicchetti took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sylvain Breitenstein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 82 minutes into the match, Aveiro united's goal looked a bit too open when Sylvain Breitenstein came free, but Sten Cicchetti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If LLoyd Weingartner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 87th minute LLoyd Weingartner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sten Cicchetti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Union FC's Quentin Himmel got his second yellow card of the match in the 89th minute. The referee ordered Quentin Himmel off the ground. After 90 played minutes Union FC got a freekick which was hit by Quentin Himmel. LLoyd Weingartner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sten Cicchetti having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Union FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
