With a little luck, Monte's Hans-Ruedi Winkel got control of the ball when Jendrick Langenegger tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 24th minute, Jendrick Langenegger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ingo Daoust fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hans-Ruedi Winkel having to interfere. Fc Porto's Nick Diederich played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pierre Nietlispach in the 33rd minute of play. Nick Diederich made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pierre Nietlispach in the 36th minute of play. After 40 played minutes Fc Porto got a freekick which was hit by Dragan Zwahlen. Fc Porto's Nick Diederich played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pierre Nietlispach in the 45th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, Fc Porto's goal looked a bit too open when Nero Loewe came free, but Nick Diederich reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

In the 65th minute Nero Loewe shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nick Diederich saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Fc Porto's zone, Nero Loewe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nick Diederich came out of the goal and Nero Loewe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 69 minutes, Nero Loewe made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Fc Porto's Nick Diederich tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Fc Porto's Nick Diederich played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nero Loewe in the 79th minute of play. The Fc Porto supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Monte's performance. The match ended with a win for Monte.
