Patrik Eigner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Betschart having to interfere. After having played for 14 minutes, Alexandros Studer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ChelseaFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alexandros Studer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tommy Betschart made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexandros Studer in the 16th minute of play. ChelseaFC's Patrik Eigner got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 30th minute of the match Fabricius Masciolo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tommy Betschart skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Patrik Eigner managed to get in a good position for a shot. ChelseaFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Patrik Eigner was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Betschart breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 35 minutes into the match, Manchester Gais's goal looked a bit too open when Alexandros Studer came free, but Tommy Betschart reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Patrik Eigner in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tommy Betschart prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alexandros Studer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Betschart having to interfere. Patrik Eigner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Tommy Betschart tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute, one of Manchester Gais:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Manchester Gais.

The supporters of ChelseaFC booed when Manchester Gais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anatol Beyer didn't get a good kick on the ball. 72 minutes into the match, Manchester Gais's goalkeeper Tommy Betschart had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alexandros Studer.
