When Owen Rominger fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Manchester Gais's protests and gave Owen Rominger a yellow card for diving instead. Odin Shuster struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Tommy Betschart didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Neyruz SC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germano Goetschi in the 11th minute of play forced Neyruz SC's goalkeeper Arturo Figini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raphael Schmidlin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tommy Betschart made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Odin Shuster in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th minute, Raphael Schmidlin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Neyruz SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Arturo Figini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Germano Goetschi, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Germano Goetschi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Arturo Figini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 29 played minutes Manchester Gais got a freekick which was hit by Owen Rominger. In the 29th minute of the match Erik Trolla sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tommy Betschart skillfully saved the ball. In the 32nd minute, Beniamino Schaerer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Odin Shuster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 36 minutes, Raphael Schmidlin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Neyruz SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Raphael Schmidlin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Raphael Schmidlin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Odin Shuster scored 0-2 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tommy Betschart, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jud Stalder's late challenge caught a Neyruz SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jud Stalder helped the player get up and apologised. After 46 played minutes Manchester Gais got a freekick which was hit by Jud Stalder. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Vittorio Weiss made the kick off in the second half. Beniamino Schaerer kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Arturo Figini took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vittorio Weiss, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 54 minutes, Geoffroy Weltert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Neyruz SC and the Manchester Gais players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Neyruz SC getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Geoffroy Weltert hit a great ball. Beniamino Schaerer's late challenge caught a Manchester Gais's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Beniamino Schaerer helped the player get up and apologised. Odin Shuster received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Tommy Betschart came out and tried to block the shot, but Odin Shuster slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 63rd minute. In the 67th minute, Raphael Schmidlin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Odin Shuster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Andi Santschi hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Raphael Schmidlin who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 72ndth minute tested the skills of Tommy Betschart when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Odin Shuster received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Tommy Betschart tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 88th match minute, Neyruz SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geoffroy Weltert to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle sounded Neyruz SC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Manchester Gais.
