Spectators: 7740 (Terracing: 5806, Seating: 1780, VIP seats: 154) Manchester Gais's Tommy Betschart played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruben Müller in the 15th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Reto Buccino made a precise shot to the right of Tommy Betschart. Manchester Gais's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Reto Buccino might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tommy Betschart. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reto Buccino ran back to his position shaking his head. After 25 played minutes Ruben Müller rounded Manchester Gais's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. A collision led to Manchester Gais getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Moritz Gremion hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Vittorio Weiss managed to get in a good position for a shot. Manchester Gais's supporters rose to their feet, but Vittorio Weiss was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dominic Geiser breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tommy Betschart showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ruben Müller, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ruben Müller to make the kick off. Tommy Betschart took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruben Müller, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 55 minutes, Vittorio Weiss managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester Gais's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vittorio Weiss was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Black Stars Basel's Ruben Müller got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ruben Müller sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reto Buccino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Betschart read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. In the 70th minute, Owen Rominger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 75 minutes into the match, Black Stars Basel's goal looked a bit too open when Germano Goetschi came free, but Dominic Geiser reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tommy Betschart came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Black Stars Basel's Ruben Müller. But to his dismay, Ruben Müller quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. The referee gave Black Stars Basel a penalty, 87 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Flo Wildhaber, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Manchester Gais's Tommy Betschart. 4-0. If Reto Buccino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Manchester Gais defense, Ruben Müller kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tommy Betschart. The Manchester Gais fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tommy Betschart should have stopped the shot. Manchester Gais's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
