After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Erasmus Sauber managed to get in a good position for a shot. FCBeresina's supporters rose to their feet, but Erasmus Sauber was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silvanus Bianco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Silvanus Bianco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Jolicoeur, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. After 32 played minutes FCBeresina got a freekick which was hit by Floyd Wabe. 37 minutes into the match, FCBeresina's goal looked a bit too open when Urbain Gräf came free, but Pierre Gervoletti reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andreas Righetti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Silvanus Bianco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Erasmus Sauber's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. After 47 played minutes FCBeresina got a freekick which was hit by Fabrizio Arnold. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

After a defensive mix-up in FCBeresina's zone, Andreas Righetti stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. An unexpectedly hard shot by Urbain Gräf in the 72nd minute of play forced FCBeresina's goalkeeper Pierre Gervoletti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andreas Righetti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Pierre Gervoletti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Erasmus Sauber came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the FCBeresina fans jumped to their feet. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Renens had won after a very even match.
