Mischa Rutsch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orell Eggers in the 11th minute of play. After 20 minutes of play, FC Basel 1982's Rainer Sonsini made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Knut Zehntner was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Rainer Sonsini in the 22nd minute of play forced FC Traktor Madiswil's goalkeeper Knut Zehntner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 24 minutes, Rainer Sonsini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Basel 1982's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rainer Sonsini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rainer Sonsini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 37th minute, Lars Abendroth got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee ignored FC Traktor Madiswil's protests and gave Lars Abendroth a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of FC Basel 1982 booed when FC Traktor Madiswil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lars Abendroth didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in FC Traktor Madiswil's zone, Rainer Sonsini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Knut Zehntner came out of the goal and Rainer Sonsini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of FC Basel 1982 booed when FC Traktor Madiswil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamin Lagnaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Orell Eggers came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the FC Traktor Madiswil fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Orell Eggers couldn't finish the play. Mischa Rutsch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benjamin Lagnaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Orell Eggers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mischa Rutsch having to interfere. A hard, long distance shot from Gabor Daecher flew over the goal. The supporters of FC Basel 1982 booed when FC Traktor Madiswil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacques Saenger didn't get a good kick on the ball. The FC Traktor Madiswil supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching FC Basel 1982's performance. The match ended with a win for FC Basel 1982.
