In the 9th minute of the match, Patrick Liniger got a very nice opportunity to score, but Kerwin Garnier was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Christian Schmitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arrigo Anderhub got free with Kerwin Garnier in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 16 played minutes Irgenhausen got a freekick which was hit by Patrick Liniger. In the 21st minute, Silverius Lagrange hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jean Palluzzi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodolphe Federer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Irgenhausen's Jean Palluzzi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodolphe Federer in the 26th minute of play. In the 27th minute of the match Effingen got a corner. Irgenhausen's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nicola Rub ran over to the corner to take the kick. After some careless play in the Irgenhausen defense, Rodolphe Federer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jean Palluzzi. The Irgenhausen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jean Palluzzi should have stopped the shot. If Christian Schmitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute, Nicola Rub got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jiri Wemelinger to make the kick off. Effingen were furious when Silverius Lagrange was red carded, 53 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The supporters of Irgenhausen booed when Effingen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clemens Boehm didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58th minute of the match Hennes Favre sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kerwin Garnier skillfully saved the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodolphe Federer got free with Jean Palluzzi in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 61 minutes, Nicola Rub managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Effingen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicola Rub was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Effingen made a substitution. Owain Daecher replaced Samir Winkel. 62 minutes into the game, Günter Schurter was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Irgenhausen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Effingen the free kick. Jean Palluzzi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Fabio Steinemann's late challenge caught a Effingen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fabio Steinemann helped the player get up and apologised. In the 68th minute, one of Irgenhausen:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Irgenhausen. Clemens Boehm hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. Hennes Favre took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 81st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Kerwin Garnier. Effingen's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 83 minutes into the match, Jiri Wemelinger notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Effingen's Kerwin Garnier. Kerwin Garnier was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Clemens Boehm fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean Palluzzi having to interfere. The supporters of Effingen booed when Irgenhausen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Günter Schurter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jean Palluzzi acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 96th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Nicola Rub. When Nicola Rub came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Effingen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicola Rub couldn't finish the play. The nice shot from Rodolphe Federer in the 100thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Jean Palluzzi had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. The Irgenhausen fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Effingen were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
