The audience thought a goal was coming when Luca Felber got free with Steffen Allemann in the 5th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 7 minutes into the match, Catana FC's goal looked a bit too open when Connor Bianini came free, but Steffen Allemann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pascal Wetter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dennis Neustadt having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Arminio Borgi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
