Josef Vaillancourt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fletcher Felber, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FC Sion's Josef Vaillancourt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fletcher Felber in the 30th minute of play. In the 44th minute, Marcel Böni made a precise shot to the right of Josef Vaillancourt. FC Sion's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. When Finn Freihofer fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Granges-Paccot's protests and gave Finn Freihofer a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FC Granges-Paccot getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Finn Freihofer hit a great ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Owen Jurt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, FC Granges-Paccot's Franz Schweizer got a free kick in the 57th minute. Josef Vaillancourt came out of the goal and Marcel Böni tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Eugene Hediger fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Sion's protests and gave Eugene Hediger a yellow card for diving instead. In the 81st minute, Eugene Hediger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 82ndth minute of the game Fletcher Felber who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Sion's Josef Vaillancourt was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 83 played minutes FC Sion got a freekick which was hit by Eugene Hediger. When Fletcher Felber came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the FC Granges-Paccot fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fletcher Felber couldn't finish the play. In the 93rd minute, Finn Freihofer made a precise shot to the right of Josef Vaillancourt. FC Sion's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. There was no doubt that FC Granges-Paccot were the better team. FC Granges-Paccot's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
