Uberto Ackerman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tristan Blaser having to interfere. 44 minutes into the match, Romanel HC's goal looked a bit too open when Alexis Frischknecht came free, but Felicien Bourgouin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Hans-Ruedi Figini to make the kick off. Markus Gassmann's late challenge caught a Chäs FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Markus Gassmann helped the player get up and apologised. In the 65th minute, Markus Gassmann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
