Klaus Reiter's late challenge caught a BSC Young Boys's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Klaus Reiter helped the player get up and apologised. Garrick Rösli came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by MUtti's Giancarlo Lehmann. But to his dismay, Giancarlo Lehmann quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. 21 minutes into the match, BSC Young Boys's goalkeeper Garrick Rösli had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Giancarlo Lehmann. Giancarlo Lehmann in the 23rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Garrick Rösli, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Giancarlo Lehmann could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Garrick Rösli made a huge save. With a little luck, BSC Young Boys's Garrick Rösli got control of the ball when Giancarlo Lehmann tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in BSC Young Boys's zone, Giancarlo Lehmann stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Garrick Rösli came out of the goal and Giancarlo Lehmann tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rolf Bolliger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Garrick Rösli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Garrick Rösli stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rolf Bolliger's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. BSC Young Boys's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Rolf Bolliger 41 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 3-0. Rolf Bolliger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The supporters of MUtti booed when BSC Young Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leif Krummenacher didn't get a good kick on the ball. MUtti's Rolf Bolliger got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 66 minutes into the match, BSC Young Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Giancarlo Lehmann came free, but Garrick Rösli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 67 minutes into the game, MUtti's Giancarlo Lehmann nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. MUtti's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
