Carol Pascolo might have been able to make a better finish in the 3rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cäsar Daecher. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carol Pascolo ran back to his position shaking his head. Yverdon's Rasul Gräf proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Yverdon from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leander Boss in the 10th minute of play forced Yverdon's goalkeeper Rasul Gräf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 11th minute, Theo Netzer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Theo Netzer got free with Rasul Gräf in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Theo Netzer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rasul Gräf having to interfere. An unexpected shot in the 16th minute by Francisco Borer got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Francisco Borer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Rasul Gräf made a huge save. When Theo Netzer came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Dinamo ST Gallen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Theo Netzer couldn't finish the play. Theo Netzer in the 35thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Rasul Gräf, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Carol Pascolo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Yverdon's supporters rose to their feet, but Carol Pascolo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cäsar Daecher breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Domenico Ruckstuhl in the 60th minute of play forced Dinamo ST Gallen's goalkeeper Cäsar Daecher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Borer in the 66th minute of play forced Yverdon's goalkeeper Rasul Gräf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 67 minutes into the match, Theo Netzer notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Yverdon's Rasul Gräf. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Theo Netzer in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rasul Gräf prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 85th minute Francisco Borer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rasul Gräf saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rasul Gräf showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Theo Netzer, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. In the 94th match minute, Yverdon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kevin Baumberger to maneuver through the defense. Dinamo ST Gallen's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
