In a very dangerous position, a player in Cuba Libre Basel fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 40th minute. Penalty! Alfonso De Grandis scored 2-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cäsar Daecher, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francisco Borer to strike the kick off in the second half. Cäsar Daecher showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfonso De Grandis in the 55th minute of the match. In the 57th minute, Reiner Seitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Francisco Borer struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Yvan Cicchetti didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dinamo ST Gallen. In the 63rd minute, Theo Netzer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Joe Ineichen charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Cuba Libre Basel had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
