Spectators: 8596 (Terracing: 6448, Seating: 1977, VIP seats: 171) Alfonso De Grandis started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 3 minutes into the match, Cuba Libre Basel's goalkeeper Yvan Cicchetti had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bruno Guimarães. Cuba Libre Basel's Yvan Cicchetti proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Cuba Libre Basel from getting a goal against them. In the 6th minute Ken Pfulg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yvan Cicchetti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Cuba Libre Basel's Ferris Vonlanthen got a free kick in the 7th minute. Paddy Aceto blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Yvan Cicchetti having to make a save. In the 13th match minute, Cuba Libre Basel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ferris Vonlanthen to maneuver through the defense. When Paddy Aceto came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Lugano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paddy Aceto couldn't finish the play. 16 minutes into the game, Kai Kamarche recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Yvan Cicchetti. Kai Kamarche showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. In the 19th minute, Alfonso De Grandis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Patrizio Huber kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Yvan Cicchetti. That made the score 2-0 in the 20 minute of play. Patrizio Huber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 24 minutes into the match, Bruno Guimarães had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Yvan Cicchetti. Cuba Libre Basel's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bruno Guimarães was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Kai Kamarche recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the last second Yvan Cicchetti throw himself and got hold of the ball when Kai Kamarche in the 30thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. In the 32ndth minute of the game Kai Kamarche who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cuba Libre Basel's Yvan Cicchetti was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Cuba Libre Basel's zone, Ken Pfulg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Yvan Cicchetti came out of the goal and Ken Pfulg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Kai Kamarche came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Lugano fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kai Kamarche couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Lugano's Patrizio Huber got a free kick in the 41st minute. If Kai Kamarche had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kai Kamarche succeeded in the game's 46th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 4-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Kai Kamarche to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrizio Huber in the 52nd minute of play forced Cuba Libre Basel's goalkeeper Yvan Cicchetti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ken Pfulg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Yvan Cicchetti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 73rd match minute, Lugano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patrizio Huber to maneuver through the defense. In the 76th minute, Blair Yeats hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lucius Berger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bairee McGlenn in the 77th minute of play. Yvan Cicchetti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ken Pfulg, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Bruno Guimarães put it in 7-0 from a short distance just to the right of Yvan Cicchetti. Bairee McGlenn's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lucius Berger read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Cuba Libre Basel's Yvan Cicchetti played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bruno Guimarães in the 89th minute of play. In the 94th minute, Reiner Seitz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 95th minute of the match Paddy Aceto shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Yvan Cicchetti showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Lugano's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
