Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) 10 minutes into the match, Bottens's goal looked a bit too open when Robby Schaer came free, but Arndt Tittone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Lamberto Riedweg's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arndt Tittone was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Cláudio Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Charles Zacchia sent off a good shot on target. Cláudio Taffarel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a little luck, Berne Wanderers FC's Cláudio Taffarel got control of the ball when Darius Eberhart tried to sneak it across the goal line. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arndt Tittone showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After having played for 36 minutes, Robby Schaer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Berne Wanderers FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robby Schaer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 43 played minutes, Berne Wanderers FC's Fernando Erni shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Arndt Tittone came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Berne Wanderers FC reached it. Kristian Reuteler hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Charles Zacchia to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Beltrame Arnold ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cláudio Taffarel was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lamberto Riedweg got free with Arndt Tittone in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Lamberto Riedweg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute Andy Held shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arndt Tittone saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lamberto Riedweg in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arndt Tittone prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cláudio Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charles Zacchia in the 65th minute of play. Cláudio Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charles Zacchia in the 67th minute of the match. Ulric Laforge hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Bottens's zone, Clayton Helmholz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arndt Tittone came out of the goal and Clayton Helmholz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lamberto Riedweg charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lamberto Riedweg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 74 played minutes Berne Wanderers FC got a freekick which was hit by Lamberto Riedweg. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl Bleyer in the 86th minute of play forced Berne Wanderers FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Charles Zacchia's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cláudio Taffarel was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. Bottens's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
