Spectators: 8348 (Terracing: 6344, Seating: 1944, VIP seats: 60) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Andy Held took the kick off in the first half of the match. Berne Wanderers FC's Cláudio Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robby Reich in the 3rd minute of play. After having played for 7 minutes, Jefferson Miani managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Thun's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jefferson Miani was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cláudio Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Wocher in the 14th minute of play. Cláudio Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Christian Wocher's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jefferson Miani in the 19th minute of play forced Berne Wanderers FC's goalkeeper Cláudio Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Christian Wocher fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Taffarel having to interfere. Christian Wocher recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jefferson Miani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Cláudio Taffarel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The wind increased when Christian Wocher made the kick off in the second half. Robby Reich was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 54th minute. FC Thun's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kristian Reuteler during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jefferson Miani was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 61st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Jefferson Miani recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nathan Trudeau's late challenge caught a Berne Wanderers FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nathan Trudeau helped the player get up and apologised. Nathan Trudeau kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, FC Thun's Nathan Trudeau got a free kick in the 70th minute. After 71 minutes of play, Berne Wanderers FC's Robby Schaer made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Karsten Gerner was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 76th match minute, Berne Wanderers FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kristian Reuteler to maneuver through the defense. After 79 played minutes Berne Wanderers FC got a freekick which was hit by Veit Bieber. Robby Reich recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 87th minute, FC Thun's Christian Wocher dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. In the 90th minute Jefferson Miani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cláudio Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Thun's Robby Reich got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. FC Thun's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
