FC Glarus's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Suruç the free kick. Giraldo Batsch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benoit Luthiger received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Leopoldo Zihler came out and tried to block the shot, but Benoit Luthiger slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 22nd minute. After 25 played minutes FC Glarus got a freekick which was hit by LLoyd Stübi. Gaetano Gour kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. After 31 played minutes Benoit Luthiger rounded FC Glarus's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. In the 36th match minute, FC Glarus was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dario Uttiger to maneuver through the defense. LLoyd Stübi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Enrico Peter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 47 minutes into the match, FC Glarus's goal looked a bit too open when Olivier Jakobeit came free, but Leopoldo Zihler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Glarus's goalkeeper Leopoldo Zihler, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when LLoyd Stübi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in FC Glarus's zone, Dick Chauvet stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leopoldo Zihler came out of the goal and Dick Chauvet tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 53 minutes, Olivier Jakobeit managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Suruç's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olivier Jakobeit was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Giraldo Batsch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Suruç's Goliath Domini got a free kick in the 59th minute. After having played for 61 minutes, LLoyd Stübi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Glarus's supporters crossed their fingers, but LLoyd Stübi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, FC Glarus's Jeff Hunziker got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Olivier Jakobeit fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Zihler having to interfere. Suruç's Dick Chauvet got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Suruç's zone, LLoyd Stübi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enrico Peter came out of the goal and LLoyd Stübi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to FC Glarus getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Giraldo Batsch hit a great ball. After 90 played minutes FC Glarus got a freekick which was hit by Giraldo Batsch. In the 95th minute Dick Chauvet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leopoldo Zihler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olivier Jakobeit fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Zihler having to interfere. For all the effort they put into the match, the FC Glarus players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Suruç.
