After having played for 7 minutes, Massimo Poulin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SIRI United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Massimo Poulin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Massimo Poulin hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in SIRI United's zone, Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Santiago Cañizares came out of the goal and Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 11 minutes into the match, FC Lugano's goalkeeper Godo Gøl had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ricardo Haag. In the 11th minute, SIRI United's Ricardo Haag dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. When Carl Suret fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SIRI United's protests and gave Carl Suret a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, SIRI United's Carl Suret got a free kick in the 14th minute. Ricardo Haag scored 2-0 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Godo Gøl, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 25th minute, Ricardo Haag hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SIRI United's Santiago Cañizares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon in the 30th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, FC Lugano's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo Haag came free, but Godo Gøl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Ricardo Haag had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd match minute, SIRI United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ricardo Haag to maneuver through the defense. SIRI United's Santiago Cañizares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benoit Ritieni in the 43rd minute of play. The wind increased when Ricardo Haag made the kick off in the second half. 55 minutes into the game, Massimo Poulin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SIRI United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Lugano the free kick. A collision led to SIRI United getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Massimo Poulin hit a great ball. SIRI United's Santiago Cañizares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save SIRI United from getting a goal against them. 61 minutes into the game, FC Lugano's Jirko Bur nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Santiago Cañizares made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. FC Lugano's Gautier Gehrig was substituted for Teddy Racine. FC Lugano's Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul was substituted for Khachonkiat Pornsaptaveekoon. Gian-Carlo Van Den Maagdenberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Santiago Cañizares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Massimo Poulin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Massimo Poulin in the 72nd minute of play forced FC Lugano's goalkeeper Godo Gøl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 73 played minutes FC Lugano got a freekick which was hit by Julio Palluzzi. Santiago Cañizares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gian-Carlo Van Den Maagdenberg in the 75th minute of play. After 80 played minutes SIRI United got a freekick which was hit by Massimo Poulin. Santiago Cañizares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul in the 82nd minute. Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Santiago Cañizares came out and tried to block the shot, but Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul slotted it home off the left post making it 3-2 in the 82nd minute. Godo Gøl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robin Bossert, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 89th minute SIRI United were awarded a corner. Graciano Lindenmann went to the cornerflag to take it. Santiago Cañizares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benoit Ritieni, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. In the 94th minute Jirko Bur shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Cañizares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the SIRI United defense, Benoit Ritieni kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Santiago Cañizares. The SIRI United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Santiago Cañizares should have stopped the shot. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
