In the 25th minute Alberto Hofstetter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lionel Paly saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, Brütten's goalkeeper Yan Fossati had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tory Pryor. Lionel Paly took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Hofstetter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Zbytniewski in the 35th minute of play forced FC Wil 1900's goalkeeper Lionel Paly to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lionel Paly showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clint Paly, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Emery Heller took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Yan Fossati to make any attempt to save it. In the 44th minute Earnest Höltschi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lionel Paly saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 46 played minutes Brütten got a freekick which was hit by Edward Zbytniewski.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tory Pryor was the one to do the kick off. Brütten's Alberto Hofstetter got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 55 played minutes Brütten got a freekick which was hit by Clark Högger. When Clint Paly came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Brütten fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clint Paly couldn't finish the play. 73 minutes into the match, Brütten's goal looked a bit too open when Tory Pryor came free, but Yan Fossati reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lionel Paly took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niccolo Kurmann, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yan Fossati made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tory Pryor in the 79th minute of play. When Alberto Hofstetter came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Brütten fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Hofstetter couldn't finish the play. Lionel Paly made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Hofstetter in the 84th minute. With an all-out effort, Brütten's Lionel Paly threw himself towards the right post 94 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Edward Zbytniewski, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 95 minutes FC Wil 1900's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Alexander Bettinelli who took care of the corner kick. Brütten's Alexander Bettinelli was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Lionel Paly in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Brütten's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
